Smile DCAA Accounting Approval

Hello. I'm new to this forum and looking for some guidance on becoming DCAA compliant.

1. I have my own business.
2. I am the only employee.
3. My biz is set up as a sole-proprietorship.
4. I do ad agency type work. (develop ad campaigns, design brochures, websites and offer marketing strategy for clients).

Recently I have pitched a proposal to a big company for some work. They accepted that proposal. However, before we can begin the project, they sent me a lot of forms to fill out and send in to their headquarters. This company is very large and deals mostly with govt military contracts.

Looking over the forms, there is a long list (15+ questions) regarding my accounting practices. The very first question: Do you have an accounting system that is DCAA approved?

I did research all day and have extremely difficult time finding answers or solutions here. I did find some good (and recent as 1/2010) basic information at bizmonthly dot com (search DCAA)

So my question how do I go about becoming DCAA compliant, so I can land this project? I know nothing but the very basics of accounting and have always just kept a very simple accounting system using the low end PeachTree software.

Many of the questions seem like they pertain only to big companies with tons of overhead and sell things other than services. I really want to get this project, as it could lead to big things down the road, but at the same time, I can't afford $10k for a DCAA approved accounting system.

If anyone could provide any guidance here, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
